Philly Deltas Blood Drive

September 12 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia (formerly Gratz College), the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter Charitable Partners and Physical and Mental Health Committees will host a Blood Drive in support of the American Red Cross and National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and in partnership with Theta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. and The Keith Dawson Foundation.

The event is open to the public, however we have made it convenient for members of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter to donate immediately following chapter meeting.

Our donation matters because sickle cell disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans, more than 90% of whom are Black or African American. For patients who require frequent transfusions, finding closely matched blood is critical. The American Red Cross reports that Black donors can be especially important because certain red-blood-cell characteristics are more commonly shared among people of similar racial or ethnic backgrounds, increasing the likelihood of a compatible match and helping reduce transfusion complications. For us, donating blood is more than giving—it is service, sisterhood and the possibility of someone getting another tomorrow.

Meet Chris, one of the approximately 100,000 Americans living with sickle cell disease. As a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., he understands the power of our Divine Nine community. He relies on regular blood transfusions and credits generous blood donors and his strong support system with helping him continue his fight.

Our goal is at least 25 DONORS—and we need you!
