Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy

The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy provides an opportunity for us to enrich and enhance the education of young women. Our primary goal is to prepare these young women for leadership by focusing on the cultivation and maintenance of relationships, scholarship in math, science, and technology, and by providing opportunities for public service. Target: Young women ages 11-14

Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute

The Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute is an outgrowth and continuation of the Delta Academy program. It is offered to young women aged 14 - 18. Through its goals, Delta GEMS provides the framework for female high school students to actualize the dreams the Delta Academy cultivated. The programs focus is to instill the need to excel academically, to assist in goal setting and planning for the future, and to actively involve these young women in service learning and community service projects. Target: Young women ages 14-18

EMBODI

The EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence) program is designed to focus the efforts of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., with the support and action of other major organizations, on the plight of African-American males. Locally, we have coordinated EMBODI efforts to improve the social skills and life skills of young men in Philadelphia- exposing them to various cultural opportunities and mentoring sessions. Additionally, on-going communication between the young men and male mentors throughout the month has kept the young men engaged. Target: Young men ages 14-18
